Hazelnuts are nutrient-dense: a rich fatty acid profile, protein, fibre, vitamin E, magnesium and antioxidant compounds. 100 grams of kernels provide roughly 15 grams of protein, 10 grams of fibre and close to a full day's reference intake of vitamin E. That density is what makes even a small portion genuinely nourishing.

Why the fatty acid profile matters

About three quarters of hazelnut oil is oleic acid — the same monounsaturated fat that dominates olive oil. Dietary guidelines treat monounsaturated fats as sources that can replace part of saturated fat intake. The oleic-heavy profile also makes hazelnut oil stable in both hot and cold applications.

Vitamin E is one of the most studied micronutrients in relation to cellular oxidative stress. Among plant sources, hazelnuts hold one of the richest natural stores; a handful covers a large share of the daily reference intake.
